    Description

    Antique Late 19th to Early 20th Century Walnut Wood Desktop LETTER BOX. Very nice arch-front letter box in great condition. I feel pretty sure that this was originally the letter box portion of a secretary desk....later removed and used as a desktop letter box.....note the two screw holes in the rear of the box where it was attached to the secretary. The box has an old felt lining in it, which someone placed in it, and which can easily be removed. Original finish is in very nice condition (see pics). Looks to be a walnut veneer lid on, otherwise, solid sides with poplar bottom and back. Perimeter of the lid still has the original gold painted pinstripe. Original brass hinges work great. Box measures 9" wide x 8 1/4" front to back x 2 1/4" tall. It's really a pretty darn nice old box!
