    Description

Offered for sale is a very nice antique pressed flint glass lacy salt manufactured by the Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. of New England during the early 1800s.  The salt features a scroll and fern leaf pattern with a stippled body and this is Neale number MV 2, which comes from the Mount Vernon group of salts.  The salt measures 2 7/8" in length and stands about 1 3/4" tall.
The overall condition of the salt is very good to excellent.  There is standard roughness to the top rim, corners, edges, and feet which include small chips, flakes, and nicks with slightly larger chips to two of the top corners and two of the bottom corners.  The clarity is excellent with no cloudiness and the pattern details are very strong.  You can expect to find the standard imperfections associated with older glass to include annealing lines, inclusions, air bubbles, etc.
