Description

This is Steiff's "Pupphase Bub" or rabbit doll boy. Bub is 25 cm tall and standing on flat feet. He has a swivel head. His heads, paws, and feet are made from wool plush, while his body and paw pads are made from a sturdy linen material. He has very large brown eyes with black pupils, felt-lined ears, and a pink hand embroidered nose and mouth. Bub is dressed in traditional German clothing.
Bub was in the Steiff catalog postwar in this size from 1949 through 1955. These midcentury animal dolls are really loved by doll and Steiff collectors alike, and seldom appear on the secondary market.
Bub is in fair to good condition as pictured and described. He has overall loss and playwear to him, and could use a good cleaning. His clothing has seen better days, but is all original to him. Nonetheless, he is entirely structurally sound, adorable, and has another century of love to give. He retains his raised script button and traces of his US Zone tag in his leg as his IDs.
